Chronicle XX by Robert Karlsrud and friends shows that in 2009-10 SSU students fees ranked third highest within the 23 CSU campuses, while as the same time SSU professor salaries ranked dead last. SSU students pay 35% more in in mandatory campus fees in 2010-11 than the CSU average. These fees will dramatically increase with a new administration imposed $100 mental health fee, and the possible $300 a year student center fee.
At the same time SSU have the highest student manager ratio—close to twice as many managers—as similar size campuses. And SSU is dangerously close to dropping below the established Debt Service Coverage Ratio if the proposed student center is added into SSU’s debt.
Red warning lights are flashing regarding the administrative budgeting process at SSU, someone should tell the authorities.
